PERMACULTURE RESOURCES

Permaculture is a science-based ethical design system used to answer the all encompassing question:

“How do we live sustainably?"

It is based on 12 design principles below:

Permaculture has a lot in common with organic gardening, but it is a different approach. Instead, permaculture gardens are very purposefully modeled after natural ecosystems to minimize waste and maximize productivity, thereby creating a garden that needs much less maintenance, ideal for a school garden! There is a focus on planting perennials (reducing the need to plant every year), harvesting rainwater (perfect for BC' dry Interior), composting, and providing an educational hands-on experience for students from K-12.
